Modern History & International Relations
Exemplary student research and essays in History and IR
MHIR originated in the International Relations (IR) department at the University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) in the Netherlands. This is a platform on which Master’s, Research Master’s, and PhD students can share their knowledge by contributing their best essays and research projects. We feature work in the field of Modern History and IR, incorporating empirical research as well as reflections on theory, philosophy, methodology, method, and beyond.
While not claiming to be a scientific authority, MHIR is founded on the belief that students are ready to add meaningfully to the conversation, even when publication is out of reach, Each student contribution has been evaluated by a tutor, and is reviewed by a student peer before being published on this site.
